Meet SJC’s new Managing Partner!
Corey Jackson, CFRE, joined SJC as managing partner in July 2022. We are SO excited to introduce him to you! Here’s a post from Corey.
In for-profit and non-profit work, I have been skilled at getting people to work together towards a common goal. No matter the personalities involved or the difficulty of the situation, I get the end result needed. I know how to build trust, reduce impediments, and get the work done.
I believe my background in producing and directing theatre brought me these skills. The show must go on, whether you’re ready or not!
Just as I produced and directed scores of shows that went off without a hitch on opening night, I also spent more than a decade helping software teams from all over the world reach their release dates. The stakes were high, as the stock market was watching and many customers were relying on us for specific functionality that worked well. I had a lot of fun in the tech space which fed my creative and innovative sides, but after a decade in that space I decided I really wanted to do more directly in the community to make a larger difference in the world.
During my decade of working in the nonprofit sector, I've implemented strategies to increase safety and housing programs for the homeless, feed children over the summer and weekends, keep a struggling pantry from closing and grow it to one of the regions most strategic partners during the COVID-19 pandemic. I’ve brought arts programming to communities needing a voice and venue. I've successfully grown fundraising dollars for small and mid-sized nonprofits.
Every facet of my career has taught me the importance of revenue. Without money, you don't get the quality you want and you're sometimes forced to make drastic decisions that have long-term effects on the organization. I'm an innovative thinker and I like to bring non-traditional ideas into the mix when thinking about revenue. I'm also a strategist and I love to plan out fundraising strategies that can grow an organization's programs or lead to new innovations.
Having worked in all sizes of organizations from small nonprofits with virtually nothing to billion-dollar software companies, I've seen the most challenging of times at both. I've met these challenges with enthusiasm, a steady hand, and a calm presence. In this time of the Great Resignation, people jumping to new opportunities, new ways of working, and new ways of supporting charities, all I see is opportunity.
I'm excited to be joining Sarah J Consulting and I can't wait to work with all of you! Contact me any time.
